Having a last minute party at your home for Labor Day this weekend or need to bring something to a party? I have a a few simple and fun things you could do to add some patriotic vibes to wherever you are! (or going!)
This is a fun idea if you volunteered yourself, (as tribute), to bring a snack somewhere. All you need are some red and blue fruits and cooking skewers. I choose raspberry and bluberries but watermelon or strawberries work too! Just start lining up the fruits one by one on the skewers, as many as you would like and done! I covered the skewer about halfway so I could use it as a drink garnish or stirrer.
FLOWERS! To me, they are the perfect way to add a little something extra to your party, or a sweet gesture to bring as a hostess gift. Seriously, who doesn’t like to have fresh flowers in their home? This arrangement cost around $10, (not including the vase) and I bought the flowers from Trader Joes. They have the most reasonable flower prices ever! All you need are 3 different kinds of flowers in of course, red white and blue. I used red Gerbera Daisies, Blue Iris, and White Hydrangeas. Another easy flower mix could be red Roses, with blue and white Hydrangeas. I also added a few mini flags that I purchased from the Dollar Tree, they came in a pack of 3 for $1. Thats something you might even have left over from Memorial Day or 4th of July.
And lastly, my favorite festive idea! Star spangled ice cubes! *Warning* these are NOT for drinks, they are for a bowl of ice or an ice bucket to chill your beverages. During my usual stop at the Dollar Tree I was looking through the 4th of July aisle trying to figure out what I could use for some festive decor. I picked up a bunch of random things and this red, white an blue star wire garland was one of them.
I was originally planning on setting up a full bar cart but ended up with just a drink tray so I knew I needed something cute for my ice. I grabbed 2 ice trays, filled them with water and began pulling the stars off the garland.
I put about 3 or so in each cube, I wasn’t really counting, just throw a few in each. Don’t worry about how they look in the water because once they freeze you still see the stars in each cube. I let them freeze overnight and then popped them out of the tray and into my Mackenzie Childs bowl. Luckily I have a problem with randomly buying alcohol based on the packing (I’m not alone right?) because these mini Lolea Sangria bottles fit the decor perfect!
