Welcome! If you found your way here from Charolette’s blog, can we talk about how fun it was? The giant lights were my favorite! Im sure it’s no surprise when it comes to Christmas I LOVE adding touches of plaid all over. Last year I went with a glam tablescape for Christmas, you can see it here, so this year I wanted to make it more casual. This post is all about how (my life got twist turned upsidown… sorry – anyone else start singing that?) to create a gorgeous plaid Christmas table.
I teamed up with Christmas Tree Shops & That! to create this casual plaid tablescape. I know I’ve said this before but they are the best place for budget friendly holiday decor. I was just telling my mom how happy I am that I have gotten to work with them because I have shopped there for years and genuinely love them!
First things first when I go to Christmas Tree Shops & That! I do at least one slow lap to check out the inventory and get some ideas. Then I go back around and start filling my cart. For my Plaid Christmas table the first thing I found were these ADORABLE dishes, so thats where I started.
Once I had the dish I knew I needed chargers. Christmas Tree Shops & That! has such a good selection. I was between the plaid ones (that I picked) and red/black buffalo check. Since I am keeping this tablescape casual I decided not to get placemats, even though I did see some cute plaid ones! But while I was in the table linen section I did find these plaid napkins.
Just a little PSA – when decorating with plaid, I feel the more the merrier. I love to add all different plaid patterns and colors. Most of the time they play off each other so well!
Now that I had the dishes, charges and napkins I found 4 plain wine glasses. The dishes, plaid napkins and chargers make the table busy so I wanted to keep the stemware simple.
Yay! my place settings were all done so now it is time to figure out what to do as a centerpiece. I recently purchased a round dining table and this is the first tablescape I was creating on it. My last dining table was rectangle so the two have very different designs for centerpieces. I took a look at the dishes and wanted to incorporate something from them into the center of the table. It was time for another lap around the store.
I found really cute white houses that lit up which I thought about using, but I really wanted something that complimented the dishes. After a few aisles I ended up in front of TONS of Christmas Trees in all different shapes and sizes. A few trees in the center of the table would be perfect! I choose 4 very realistic ones, 2 big and 2 small. I also picked up some battery operated string lights for them.
When setting the table for a dinner big or small, I love to have a few candles. I found some gorgeous mercery glass candle holders that would add a little sparkle to my table. I also picked up a few mercury glass ornaments to set around the table too.
Once I was home and set up my table I wasn’t a huge fan of the silver tin that the trees were in and felt I needed more plaid in the center. I had 2 extra plaid napkins so I wrapped the base of the larger trees in the napkin and tied them with some string. I have done this before and am obsessed with it! It is such an easy change and really makes a huge difference!
And with that, my Plaid Christmas Table was complete! Now off to fill the glasses with some wine, put on some christmas music and enjoy some time with friends! I hope you found some inspiration in this post! And a special thanks to Christmas Tree Shops & That! for sponsoring it!
Oh and I couldn’t resist this cute little Santa mug. So I grabbed him and some other cute Christmas mugs that I set on the counter for coffee. Now head on over to Jordan’s fun winter wonderland tablescape!
