With the weather getting nicer, and a lot of my time being spent taking care of a newborn, I thought setting up a little picnic for just Taylor and I would be a fun thing for us! Together with Christmas Tree Shops & That! I was able to set up the cutest afternoon for us. A mommy and me picnic would also be an adorable way to spend Mothers Day too! It doesn’t have to be anything over the top, just pack up some fun finger foods and snacks and you can do it right in your own backyard.
Christmas Tree Shops & That! had the cutest costal department (which makes me think I need a beach house every time I walk in there). While picking out pieces for my imaginary new home, I found a really pretty blue and white tablecloth with matching napkins to use for the picnic blanket. Once I find one thing I want to use then it makes picking out the rest so much easier because I can work off the initial product. After that, I found an actual picnic basket with a blue and white gingham liner! I was so excited, I was just planning on using a wicker basket and this was adorable and only $14.99.
Continuing on, I knew I wanted to get a bunch of plastic containers for our snacks and they had a huge selection! Everything was so reasonably priced and I knew this was all stuff I was going to use again so I didn’t feel bad buying any of it.
What is a picnic without Mason jars?? I loved these with the gold top so I picked up a bunch to make our drinks in. I cut up some strawberries and blueberries and added them to our water for a fun surprise. Mason Jars are a great way to transport drinks. You can tightly close the lid and put them in your basket, no spills!
Christmas Tree Shops & That! also has a great selection of snacks so while picking up some easy finger foods I noticed a jar of Marshmellow Fluff, which I immediately threw in my cart! I haven’t had a fluffernutter sandwich in over 10 years and thought it would be a fun change for our picnic. I also got some colored sprinkles to dip the sides in once I cut them with a heart cookie cutter.
Before I left I was looking for a tray and found a perfect bamboo one with handles. Having a tray helped keep our food on a more flat surface. I also found a white plastic raised tray in the outdoor section that was exactly what I was looking for. It folds up and was only $4.99! That will come in handy in the summer too, we can take it to the beach!
If you are thinking about planning a picnic I hope these ideas make it easier to put something together. Make sure to stop by Christmas Tree Shops & That! to pick up all the things you need!
