My husband and I haven’t really done the big date night out for Valentines Day in years, we are not really huge fans of the prix fix menu, crowds and frantically trying to get a reservation somewhere. But this year, with a new babe in the house, I think Valentines Day is the perfect reminder to enjoy each other and do something special. Lives can get crazy especially with a new baby and I know my husband and I are totally guilty of pushing our relationship to the side to focus on Taylor. (Of course she’s so amazing so we should cater to her every cry… LOL ) So even though we will be a party of 3, I wanted to plan a little Valentines Day date night at home for us.
I went to the new store Indigo! in the Short Hills Mall in Short Hills, New Jersey and they had a table set up with these gorgeous pizza paddles… So immediately I knew what I was going to do, make a heart pizza! I love to cook but for some reason I’m usually intimidated by pizza dough and I shouldn’t be! The below recipe is super easy and I usually make it with ready made Naan bread but it was even better with pizza dough.
After grabbing the pizza paddle, I found The Elements of Pizza recipe book, 2 placemats, 2 dishes and the CUTEST wine glasses that say “you’re my person” which gave the place setting a little something extra. (Is its me or does “a little something extra” always remind you of Elle Woods spraying her paper with perfume in Legally blonde?)
We could sit at our actual dining table but our counter peninsula is usually where its at, so a setting for 2 was all I needed. Honestly it might have been more special to sit at the table but as long as we are not in front of the TV we are good.
If you are not going out to buy anything new for your date night, which is totally fine, just use things you already have that you normally don’t use. Take out that china from you bridal shower, or your champagne flutes from your wedding and switch out the paper napkins for a cloth ones! Boom! Now your so fancy!
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you leave with some inspiration for a fun date night at home! (and a yummy pizza recipe!)
